What Is a Script Font

A script font is a font style that appears handwritten or cursive. This style is ideal for titles, headings, and short copy, as it creates an elegant and modern feel.

Not surprisingly, script fonts are one of the most popular font categories on Canva. These fonts are perfect for industries such as coaching, weddings, beauty, fashion, and photography because they can add a feminine and stylish touch.

The Canva fonts on this list can be used to create Pinterest pins, Instagram posts, opt-in freebies, and other digital products. It is extremely easy to create content for your business, website, or blog! These fonts on Canva are free for commercial use as well.

Canva Free vs. Canva Pro

Before we get too far, it’s important that I point out that the number of free Canva elements is fairly limited, compared to what you can find and use with the Canva Pro plan. If you’re serious about creating social media graphics or other designs for your blog, social accounts, or website, you should definitely consider the upgrade.

Canva Pro comes at a great price point and gives you access to 100+ million premium assets such as stock photos, videos, audio, and graphics. When you go Pro, you can also use some fantastic features like Brand Kits, Custom Fonts, and Background Remover. Trust me – once you go Pro, you’ll have a hard time going back!

What Are Canva Element Keywords?

Canva elements are the fundamental building blocks of every design and include categories such as Lines, Shapes, Frames, Stickers, Charts, and Gradients. Canva has a great write-up about design elements and principles if you’re interested in learning more about the science behind it.

A Canva element keyword is a search word or phrase that allows you to look for a specific element when you’re designing. For example, if you want to create a cute design with coffee, you might type something like ‘watercolor cappuccino’ to find the perfect graphics!

Example of a Canva Keyword Search for the keyword watercolor cappuccino

How to Search for Elements in Canva Using Keywords

Canva’s user interface makes it extremely easy to search for anything and everything. Once you’re in a design, all you have to do is click on the Elements tab on the left-hand side of your screen. At the top of the side panel, you’ll find a search box that says ‘Search anything from Canva’. Just type or paste your keyword in the box and press your Enter key.

After you press enter, you’ll notice a few things:

  1. There is a horizontal menu directly under the search box. You can further refine your search by type if the results aren’t quite what you expect. When searching for elements using Canva keywords, you’ll want to stick to the Graphics filter for the most part. There are a few exceptions, which I’ll talk about more in the Canva Keywords for Backgrounds section a little further down the page.
  2. Below the horizontal menu, you will find Pinterest-like keyword bubble suggestions. If you click on one, you’ll be able to refine your search even more to get more specific results. It’s a great way to explore the endless possibilities that Canva has to offer for elements.
Refine Canva element searches by element type and keyword suggestions

A quick note as you’re searching: Pro or paid elements are tagged with a dollar sign or a crown icon. If you’re subscribed to Canva Pro, you don’t need to pay attention but if you are on a free plan you’ll want to keep an eye out for this. You can easily filter while you search to ensure you’re only seeing the elements you want.

How to Change the Color of Canva Elements

Before we dive into the Canva keyword list below, there is one important thing I want to call out – you can change the color of many Canva elements!

Once you’ve placed an element on your design canvas, you can click the element and look for one or more color tiles to appear in the toolbar above the editor. To change the color of the selected element, click a color option from the color panel to the left. If no color tiles appear on the toolbar, it means that the element’s color cannot be changed.

READ BLOGPOST

Canva is my all-time favorite online graphic design tool. Not only can you get started for FREE, you can literally design anything – logos, social media content, presentations, posters, and more. There are thousands of templates to browse, or if you know exactly what you want to create you can start from a blank canvas to create your design. The learning curve is not steep, especially in comparison to other design tools like Photoshop. And, by using Canva Keyboard shortcuts, it’s even easier to create your designs without having to click through various on-screen menus.

Making the decision to design with Canva will save you tons of time. If you’re an online business owner, you know that time is money. Honestly, time is valuable to everyone – no matter if you’re a fellow creative designing your social media graphics, a teacher creating printable worksheets for your students, or a volunteer making posters for your cause. Everyone can benefit from filling their toolkit with resources like Canva hacks and element keyword lists.

I personally love to use Canva to create templates for Pinterest and Instagram, as well as to create designs for eBooks, workbooks, and planners. I also love to be productive and save time, so to streamline my workflow I use some of Canva’s built-in keyboard shortcuts. These simple keyboard commands, which are sometimes called Canva hotkeys or Canva shortcuts, are game-changers if you want to create a time-saving flow that will improve your graphic design process.

Quick note: If you have a Windows laptop or computer, the primary keyboard key you’ll be using is ctrl (control). If you’re on a Mac, you’ll be using the Command key – it’s the key with the ‘looped square’ on it.
